Lalit kala Scholarship

After completing my MFA from the University of Kalyani in 2020, I found myself navigating the uncharted waters of professional life amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many artists, I struggled to survive and sustain my practice, applying for grants and scholarships to stay afloat. Just when I feared that financial constraints might stall my artistic pursuits, I received an unexpected call in May 2022 from Lalit Kala Akademi, inviting me to join as a Research Scholar at the North Eastern Regional Centre (NERC) in Agartala.
Although I hadn’t applied for this specific location, fate had it that Agartala, my birthplace, would become the backdrop for this new chapter. Reconnecting with the city, I discovered new facets of it, and the experience proved enriching. Over the year-long tenure, I encountered diverse perspectives, met people from various backgrounds, and gained invaluable experiences that profoundly influenced my artistic practice.
These works chronicles my journey, capturing the evolution of my art and the insights I gained during my residency. I explore my inspirations, creative processes, and interactions with viewers, as well as my experiences beyond the studio. The Lalit Kala Akademi scholarship was a turning point, reigniting my passion and confidence in my art. It taught me to believe in myself without bias and to practice freedom in every aspect of my creative journey.
